Traditional Rice
Sri Lanka is a country that can lay claim to an unparalleled history of agriculture and being a nation of the Orient, it has always been known for its rice. Once called the granary of the Orient, Sri Lanka has a range of rice varieties that has originated and been grown on the island for centuries.
However, with time, the country has seen the disappearance of many of these traditional rice varieties from the larger consumer markets. These varieties of rice are recognised not only for their numerous health benefits, the unique nutrients carried in every grain but also for their historical value. In an attempt to revive a legacy and a unique tradition of rice, Star Agri Lanka has introduced over 8 of these traditional varieties of rice, unique to Sri Lanka and grown in our own fields, back to the general consumer market.
